It seems as though fewer than 20% of the rooms were rented. Even though the resort is only an hour and a half from San Francisco, this Easter weekend, there were only a few cars on the premises. This lack of care and investment is beginning to show quite obviously in the drop off in patronage. Meanwhile, the only work that seems to be in progress is around the pool, which very few people used, even in the past when the resort was crowded. The kitchen unit in the room we were just in over the weekend appears to be at least 50 years old and desperately needs replacing.

And even when the rooms have not deteriorated, the decor and furnishings are old and tired. Even after a number of years standing empty, the restaurant is still not operational. However, it seems as though the owners have other priorities. /rebates/2fHotelReview-g32526-d572411-Reviews-CottagesatPointReyesSeashore-InvernessPointReyesNationalSeashoreMarinCount圜a.html&.com252fHotelReview-g32526-d572411-Reviews-CottagesatPointReyesSeashore-InvernessPointReyesNationalSeashoreMarinCount圜a. I held off giving a review of the resort for a number of years in the hopes that this situation would be remedied. So those people who don’t have those few rooms need to drive into Point Reyes Station, over 6 miles to get any breakfast. It no longer does so and very few of the rooms has a kitchen facility. In addition, when the restaurant was operating, the resort provided a continental breakfast there. Because there is a great scarcity of restaurants in the area, particularly during the middle of the week when the several close, the restaurant was not only a boon, but very necessary. However, the resort has been tired and rundown for many years, A number of years ago the restaurant associated with the resort closed. The good points of the resort are its spectacular location and lovely grounds. It’s been a few years, but that doesn’t seem to have happened. It changed owners a few years ago and we were hoping that the chronic problems in the resort might get fixed. We’ve been coming to the Tomales Bay Resort for many years now. Overall, it was fine, but I wouldn't stay again under these circumstances and at these prices.… We had to check out early the next morning when the front desk wasn't open yet, so we didn't get to talk to anyone about it, and in additional email correspondence, no discount was offered. The employee also mentioned something about a discount to make up for the ants, but said that I would have to ask at check out. They offered to switch us to a different room, but seeing as we just had one night left and would've had to move all our stuff only to pack up again in 16 hours, we declined. The staff, although overall very nice, didn't seem to know what to do. We notified the staff, who had their guys take a look inside and then spray outside, but the ants kept coming. Unfortunately, our room had an ant infestation the entire time we were there, starting with a trickle of ants and then swelling to like three dozen a day. But the beds and linens are comfortable, and the shower temperature and water pressure good. Our room was surprisingly big, but quite dated and not the cleanest. Located right along the bay, this hotel is nicely situated between Point Reyes Station (where you'll find more restaurants and shops) and Point Reyes National Seashore (where you'll probably be spending more of your time sightseeing).
